yeah sure, but that tiny electric cable can go around corners, and that's not the case of the internal throttle cable

I've got a 2007 model... EFI so that's not a problem, apparently the convertion would cost me around 1500$ !! and that's to much to get ride of 2 cables...

dude nothing is funny. U can run one cable if ur using the internal throttle kit. The norm is to route it inside but it is possible to run it out side. so instead of u having to ugly cables, ull be having only one.

You can do that without an internal throttle just remove the idle cable.

One other thought on a throttle-by-wire conversion is that you may need to modify your handlebars. When looking for new handlebars, a lot of places have bars that specifically say they will fit throttle-by-wire bikes or that they do not. I think there is some kind of notch required at the end of the throttle side of the bar.

That sux, it really is a lot of money :S
better wait for a new touring bike to crash and go on auction and try toi get it cheap to repalce the module, then u'll have extra parts to sell and get some extra cash or build a new bike, which in turn will end up more expensive then the conversion.. but two bikes.. dam it's a vicious cycle!

Coxbow,

I have done it and it did work great.
Route the cable inside thru the first upper bend, however to avoid the lower (2nd) bend, make hole so the cable goes down/out straight.

I think I have to post some pics !!

coxbow, was that $1500 conversion something you got quoted through the dealership, or was that a kit from an aftermarket company? id love to do the fly by wire, but not if its gonna cost me $1500.
