Default I think I have narrowed it down

to a Softail, more specifically the '08 Heritage Softail.

Seems to fit the bill for the long ride comfort and the functionality of the quick rides. The one I'm looking at has just under 9k, with a bunch of extras like the highway bars, plus the stock shield and sissy bar. The dealership is looking for 13995... sound like a good deal?

That looks like a 105 aniv. model. Seems like a fair price from a dealer. You could prolly find one cheaper from a private sale, but you have some peace of mind buying from a dealer.

You are going to love it. I have had two of them. A 2000 and more recently a 2010. It is a very versitle bike. Comfortable for a quick bar hop or for a 500 mile ride (I have done both).

Yep. Has some nickel plating which looks sweet with those colors.

Peace of mind, and the fact that this dealer takes Honda's for trade (owner also owns a Honda dealership). Been looking to get rid of my 08 CBR600RR, makes it easy to do it all at once.

I was thinking about a Dyna, but after sitting on one, it wasnt what I was looking for. The Softail just fits.

Good choice, take a look at the front brake resivior and look for leaks. It's a common problem, when it happens the fluid eats the black powdercoating. Have it fixed before purchase. They changed the seal so it shouldn't happen again. I had the top cover changed to chrome for $10.00 more.

I was shopping for a Street Glide when I bought my '09' Heritage. Everytime I sat on the Heritage it just fit me better. They also look great with the windshield and bags off, very 'convertable'. Congrats and enjoy the ride.
