You can find a lot of good bikes cheap right now. I just bought my 97 a couple of weeks ago and got an awesome deal. Yesterday, the dealer told me he would give me more than I paid for the bike on a trade for a new 07 Heritage. Anyway, I've had my license for about 12 years but my experience was limited to my old GSXR. The Harley is a completely different beast. I think it's a very easy ride until your creaping. It's at that time that the 750lb weight starts showing. Just be careful and don't worry about looking cool.

You'll love it!

My first was a Heritage Classic.

I knew if I did not get one with decent sized bags I would be kicking myself. I ride mostly long distance and have the Heritage Classic and an Ultra Classic.

Would that be a good choice for you? I don't know and I would not let anyone make that decision for me unless they wanted to make the payments on it.

I do not care for the deluxe. Do not care for the look and that available bags are way too small unless you redo the tail pipes.

I wish I could do it today! I suppose the wait will make the day I get my bike even that much sweeter. In the meantime, I'm very jealous and, at the same time, very glad I found this forum.

Hey Andym,
I too will be taking the MSF class this weekend. I am currently riding on a 30 day permit. I love the deluxe, esp. the two tone blue/white with the white walls, reminds me of a classy 57 chevy!!
[sm=exactly.gif]
Since I'm a girl riding a Springer, does that now mean that Springer's are a girl bike..........noooooooooo! Men and women can both ride any bike, as long as it's a Harley!![sm=biker2.gif]

We bought me a 06 FXSTSI which is a Softail Springer. That chrome front end and 200mm rear tire clinched the deal with saving $4k off "normal retail". I couldn't find a new 06, just the 07's which are between 19 and 20k. This gave me the option of having the 2 year warranty, no one's bike w/ existing problems, unknowns, etc.
I learned on a Hugger 883 Sportster and did about 150 miles on that. This Springer is now 2 weeks old and I put on 500+ already.

Good luck in your search. you may find some good deals on 06's at the dealers which you maybe able to resell at a later time w/ good payback.
The deluxe does have the benefit of the low seat height and the Springer is about 1" higher. Foward controls are awesome too!
I think a Deluxe will be my 40th bday present!! blue and white of course.

Happy Trails and good luck in the class![sm=signs003.gif]

Hi,
I finally created my own user name rather than using my husbands!

Actually mine is an '07 Deluxe, but I'm so embarrased being called a girl the whole time that I've spent several K$'s making my Deluxe look like a '99 Fat Boy

Get the bike of your choice, it does not matter if it is a pink/purple Vespa

Best regards.

This is certainly a friendly bunch. I can't wait to start going to some Bike Nights and such.

I won't have a bike of my own for a while, but I do think this is going to be a very exciting chapter in my life. Which, after nineteen years of endless crap about my love of bikes and cars, is going to be a real dream come true. I can't wait for my first ride.
