Is there anyway to look at the cams when he takes them out to see exactly what was in there?
Yes, the end of the cam should have a number on them. Stock carb Twin Cam cams have a "A" on them. FI will have a "B".

I am running the andrews 37n in my 06 fatboy with a 95 inch kit stock heads. It is great for one up riding and ok for two up. I am thinking about getting the heads done to get the compression right and see if it will help on the two up riding. It is better than the stock cam for two up though, just need to keep the RPM up a little. At 2700 I am hitting 90 lbs of torque and it climbs from there. Also I would look into the cam conversion kit from anyone of the numerous vendors. I did the conversion on mine for piece of mind and did not want to have to worry about run out for the gears.

That's what I'm running right now. Serious kick-in-the-butt boost. Extremely satisfied, to the point where I decided to forgo any head work.

+1 on the that change, take a look at the thread I started here on the disaster that was about to happen to my stocker cam bearings around 36K

I did go with the 37's as the juggs will go next year (budget budget), I started with the cam since I was changing the tensioners. and we will see now that I am married how much 2-up I will do.

Andrews TW26 is probably the best cam for a "cam only" upgrade. Once you start to go bigger, you really need some headwork to support the larger cams. The 26 will start to fade about 4000 and be all in about 4500 so not much help midrange up. If you really need midrange up, you should consider increasing displacement to 98" and head work.

The Mik42 is enough carb but a tunable ignition will help get the most from a tune. You didn't mention exhaust; very important component, particulalry for a cam only upgtade.

While I ride in the city a lot, I realized that I am actually never under 2800, (that is if you want to stay alive ), so I must say that the 37 looked like a better 'get out of trouble' option for me, and also, a step for further work down the road as others stated (bigger jugs on year later, head work / valve springs the year after) etc.

The difference in power/torque in the 2000/2500 rpm range between the 21-26 and the 37 is only felt in lazy shifting cruising on the free ways, which is really fun but not where I am at most of the time .

The downside for me is this stupid Elbow pain I get now from the clutch pull, easy pull is not helping and it seems I will join a line up of tank shifters soon either way .
