Regardless of cost, that shouldn't happen on any WW.

I was told by a friend who worked in a dealers in Maryland that in the states once anything is fitted and riden the warranty is to the end of the road ? ......the point he said was that it's really hard to get your parts exchanged or money back .... this does not apply to Harley parts ........

I would be concerned about looks and would want a new tire. What other reason to have WW than looks. They are more expensive and if you paid for a first quality tire you should not settle for a seconds.

I think skulltrain is correct, you may have to raise alittle hell before you get a new one for free. That defect looks bad, to some regular joe they might not notice it, but riders like us we would, its gonna stick out like a sore thumb. Its your decision, but if I just paid $200 for a new tire, Im pissed, just sayin.

Oh, I am pissed guys. I will find a way to get this made right. I jsut don't think i should avhe to take this tire off the bike again at the cost of pulling the wheel, taking it to a shop and paying to hve it taken off. That is BS. I will raise hell, don't you worry, but in a calm and professional manner.

Metzeler has agreed to pick up the cost of the tire being taken off the bike, but will not warranty the tire until it is sent in. With this added amount of hassle and the option of having my bike down with no tire I have opted out. But...I got them to agree to pay for it. It sucks, but is the lesser of two evils to just leave it on the bike. I might just call back later and ask for a free tire without having that one shipped in.

So far, with a bit of pushing they have been good. However, I did have to ask to speak to a manager to get them to agree to what they said they would. Typical corporate BS we face in the world today.

Too bad everyone is not like Dr. V-Twin.

That sux... I have Metzs b/W and love them, they're almost as soft as my cage Pirelli's, they grip really nice and ride smooth (not like the dunlop wws that I was rolling before, they were made of cement).

It could be worse, but the hassle incurred from taking it off and having it sent in is not worth it to me. Maybe if I let them know they will be getting bad press otherwise they will jsut send a new tire, but I hate to resort to tactics like that. I far prefer to let a company do what they are going to do so I can share the info with everyone. I still love the tires. i actually like them better than my more expensive Avons.

I am surprised they are making you send it in before use of the warranty. In many instances these days, you get the replacement sent out before sending in the bad product. In some cases, with digital photography proof, sending in the defective product isn't even needed. Sucks that Metzeler seems to be behind the times on this front, especially on something like this where a vehicle will be unusable due to their bad product.
