J&S told me the same thing and I'm sure they're right. But I still use the rubber pads under the rails. It's a bit of pain on the left side because you have to tilt the bike up a bit. I've been thinking about putting a block under the jiffy stand to see if it will eliminate the need to do this but haven't tried it yet.

I cut the middle out of the rubber pads on mine, cut them in two, and glued them to the ends. That leaves enough in the middle to clear the shocks. I do have to run my rear tire up on a 2X4 to get clearance for the jack, but mine is also lowered some. One thing I always do when jacking up the bike, is to bungee the jiffy stand forward so when I let it down I know for sure the stand is down.

I place the jack either just behind or just in front of the shocks and use one tie down accross the seat for insurance and peace of mind. Don't see any reason to temp fate by jacking up 750# sideways on a couple of shock absorber shaft seals.

BTW "One thing I always do when jacking up the bike, is to bungee the jiffy stand forward so when I let it down I know for sure the stand is down." Now THAT is an excellent idea! I am always a bit nervous when letting the bike down . . . I have this minds eye view of the bike tipping over 'cause once it starts to go there ain't no way you're going to be able to haul it back up straight from the right side of the bike.
