Low crime rate, very little traffic. I can always ride to a big city in a couple of hours, hehe.

The coast usually stays warmer, but out here in the desert it's 30 degrees right now.

20 miles outside of Ridgecrest. You rode by the largest inland Naval base in the U.S.A.

Imagine my shock when I found out when 15 years old we were moving to California from Ill. I had dreams of palm trees, beaches and bikini clad hotties.
We got here in the middle of the night. In the morning I looked out the window and thought WTH! I then wondered where all the people were?
I opened the door to look outside and it felt like a blast furnace. I quicky slammed the door shut. This was early in June at 7am.

It grew on me to where I'm happy here and do not miss the cold winters back east at all.

No, worst Trona. My brother was stationed at China Lake and told my dad about the plants hiring sheet metalworkers. So we moved when he was hired.

I met my ex and stayed because her family was here. I've worked here for 31 years and have some good friends in the area.
