Hi, I was curius how many of you lowered the front of your ride and does it help with how the bike handles? Thank you for any input. I have a 09 fatboy and i did lower the rear about 1.5". Thanks again, Mike

On my bike I originally lowered the rear with progressive 422 about 1.5" and I never felt any difference in the handling. Later i lowered the front with a Progressive kit 2" just because I wanted the look of the bike sitting level and still did not feel any difference in the handling.

In theroy I think it should make a difference since you are changing the angles (rake and trail) but I did not feel anything.

When I lowered mine about 1 1/2" it seemed that the center of gravity dropped. I could feel this in the twisties. The big difference came when I installed the Ricor Intiminators. Bumps and pot holes seemed to disappear and handling in the twisties improved greatly.

I've got the progressive drop in kit that I'm putting on this weekend. I'll let you know if it helped any.

My 06 Deuce has a 5" trail and sits about 5"s off the pavement so I'm thinking if I lower the rear about 2"s and rake the front out about the same the bike will sit fairly level and decrease the rake to about 3 or 3 1/2's. That should lower my center of gravity and improve the handling in the twisties. Just a thought though I'm no builder of bikes it seems this may work.

I have my night train lowered about 2"s in the rear and about 1.5"s up front. I really dont think it handles any better. Just makes it drag when you make sharp U turns. Looks cool though!!!

Thanks for the input. I am installing chrome lowers this weekend and figured it would be the best time to lower the front. I worry about scraping the boards more because i do scrape alot already. Does anyone have pics of a fatboy lowered in the front and rear? Thanks again , Mike

Trek, I started a thread yesterday about trying to get a better ride up front with my progressive drop in lowering kit. My ride got a lot stiffer with the kit. I tried heavy duty folk oil which helped a little. Sounds like the Ricor Intiminators may be a solution. Where did you get them from? Thanks!

Default Ricor

Ricor is a sponsor here and had, maybe still have, a special price deal for members. Email or call Brian for info. They are great to work with. They recommended 10 wt Amsoil which I did use.
