2011 Fatboy questions
Hi All, just put a down payment on a 2011 Fatboy and have some questions. I want to put on a removable backrest and removable saddle bags so I need a rear turn signal relocation kit. I don't like the look of the factory kit, has anyone use the kit from EasyBrackets and how does it look? What did you use to cover the turn signal holes when you removed them? Also, are there any air cleaner kits that breath better than stock but can be run in the rain without any additional socks or covers? It's dusty where I live so it needs to filter well also. I eventually want to let the engine breath better and change the exhaust. Thanks for any help!
My signature pic shows the HD turn signal reclocation installed, also I live in lubbock, Tx the dust bowl! dust storms here get to a visability of 50', so I had the same concern. I got the S/E air cleaner w/ K&N filter and I run a cover if its to dusty. But it's washable and reusable.
probably dosent answer your questions, but thought i'd post my 2 cents. good luck!

Not in my experience, you will have to get the stage1 up grade. Heres my experience with the rain also. I only ride in it if I'm caught in it or away from home and have no choice but to get back. With the sock on I've never had an issue.
Now to be fair, I have an ultra that I ride when me and my wife head out on 3 to 4 day trips. I have a stage1 on it, but I don't run an open filter.
I run the one on my LO for 2 reasons, performance (big difference) and looks.

Removable backrest and removable saddlebags using Easy Brackets. Awesome setup!!!

Yea, maybe I miss understood, but I didn't either. I did have to extend them out in order not to interfere with back rest disconnect though.

Harley's turn signal relocate is the "dowel" style turn-signal arms. ia2189 you have those on your bike.
Wiktor, a true relocate to the license bracket is something completely different.
You can avoid using these if you are willing to grind the detachable brackets. I chose this option. Works great and in my opinion does no harm. Especially since I was getting them powder coated anyway.
If you are interested, search "grind detachable" on these forums to find information. You will have to paint or clear coat the ground edge of the brackets to prevent rust.

Here's a couple picks of my 07 FLSTF with the easybrackets signal relo. I like the look of it better than HDs solution and it lays down the plate. I covered the holes with plugs (like those used on Deluxes). The P/N for the plugs are 53830-00 and 68446-00 (at least for my bike). They're a couple dollars each and you'll need two of each. I think I paid about $6 total for the plugs which may seem like alot but I couldn't find any at hardware stores that fit well.

By the way, I have the detachable backrest and the easybrackets saddlebag mounts that mount to the rear two strut bolts (for larger bags). They all work well together. I didn't want to grind the backrest bracket, knowing I'd probably screw it up.
JIMSFBL (great looking bike!) and IA2189 both have the HD relo that uses a smaller stalk and moves the signals to the rear-most hole in the strut. If you get the detachable backrest you will either need to relo the signals or grind the bracket.
Here's a pic of my bike fully loaded on the way to Street Vibrations. The backrest is covered by the Nelson-Riggs bag but you get the idea.
