Default Softbrake Installation Question

I'm going to order the Tombstone light housing and plate relocator, but after reading threads on what a PITA it is to install them, I'm re-thinking it.

My bike has stock suspension and I don't have a jack....is it gonna be impossible to do? I was also thinking about getting a set of thumb drives to make it easier.

To me, it looks like 3 screws to remove the lens, then there is a cover on the inside of the fender (how is attached to the inside of the fender), you remove this plastic cover and you have to remove 3 nuts.....then put the Softbrake kit on and re-install. How off am I?

Bro if you have even the slightest mechanical know how you can do it. It only takes like 10 mins to install i did mine with out a jack just had the air ride at stock height. I used a universal deep socket and an extension easy as that. I never really understood what people say is so hard about this mod. Or how they let it kick their butts

It covers the wiring and bulb and what not. Just hand tighten the nut and then move to the socket

It is a little tight if you don't have a way to lift the bike. I have small hands and it was'nt easy to get to the nuts. Some guys suggested to let air out of the rear tire to allow for more clearance. Seems like a good idea. Good luck

There is one screw holding on a plastic plate that covers the wiring from water and debris, and three holding on the plate light housing

It's not hard. I didn't use a jack and was able to get my hand and arm in between the tire and fender to reach the bolts. Just make sure you have a long 7/16th wrench (a ratchet action if you have one)

If your really, really not sure just get a side mounted plate and the Tombstone

But I did it and I'm like a 3 out of 10 on mechanical skills

The trick is small hands and a universal joint for your socket. Like others have said, I don't think the job is a PITA, but in my case I made it a PITA.
