Default Headlight Vibration Dampener Broke

I took my headlight apart to have the bucket powder coated. No problems with that. Problem I ran into was putting it back together. One of the rubber vibration dampeners broke while the guys were putting it back together. I went to the dealer and they told me I'm SOL as that part isn't sold separately and that I would have to buy an entire new headlight bucket.

Sorry if this has been brought up before, but can i just use a stud and attach a spacer in place of the rubber mount in the bucket? I still have 2 that are good so only 1 would be solid mounted. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Would be a much easier question to answer if we were told what bike with what headlight assembly...............

The dealer should buy you a new headlight as they broke it...

Apologies. It's for a 2009 Night Train OEM headlight bucket.

The dealer didn't break it. It happened when the guys helping me out were putting the headlight back together. They couldn't get the acorn nuts on the back of the headlight bucket tight enough and in process of tightening them down broke the rubber in half. It just erks me a little that the dealer doesn't sell the part and instead wants to sell me the entire headlight bucket for a 50 cent part that doesn't seem to be available anywhere. Hence the question what if I just rigid mounted the one in question and left the other ones rubber?

Default Headlight Dampner

Hey I know its been over a year, but what did you end up doing with your headlight? I just had the same thing happen taking my headlight apart to powdercoat the bucket..... Did you use a solid stud? Any problems with vibrations?

Thanks

Yeppers I don't have instant computer tele-vission yet...

if it just a rubber dammer, I could/would make one out of some rubber..

I'd look in a hardware store or anywhere they sold rubber. Just get a piece of rubber something that I could cut to make it fit and work..

Electrial shops have all kind of gromlets in a lot of sizes, One of them might just be perfect for Ur problem...

OCT1949 is right, any halfway decent hardware/electrical outfit should have the pieces you need to rubber mount it. it may be a PITA for a bit, but prolly can come up with something. Screws, washers, rubber washers, nuts, etc,.

i used stainless studs with short pieces of fuel line on them. i yanked the dampeners out of mine on purpose.
headlight still has some give but doesnt bounce so bad now.

Radio Shack actually sells rubber isolation mounts for electrical components. I would try them out for sure.
