Default 04 Fatboy FI -203 Cams are In - Pleased.

I had my bike in to my HD dealer to change the stock cams for SE203's and put in the hydraulic cam chain tensioner, the SE Super Tuner and have it dynoed. The result was max HP 72.15 and max torque of 83.71. We did not do a baseline run before the changes. I could feel the improved torque immediately when I got on the bike and started out. So, I'm pleased with the change. I want to do an extended run to see what has happened to my mileage. That should be tomorrow. On longer runs with limited amount of shifting I would get 43 MPG with a stage 1 set up. The max torque occured at about 3500 RPM's but torque was in the 80's from 2800 to 4200 rpm's

Mileage should stay about the same with cams only. I run the 203's as well. Do a big bore and get another 10 tq and hp as well. Do the heads and even more yet!

The mileage may go down because you will want to feel the power, rev it more, and test it out a bit. Mileage can actually go up once you ride it normal. You have more tq sooner and it is now tuned correctly instead of a generic flash.

I am getting ready to do almost the exact thing. How much did the dealer charge for labor?

Thanks!

If you have not bought the cams yet look at the SE 204 the SE 203 is a good cam but it is still an EPA compliant cam , the SE204 is a little hotter cam (so called off road use) and will make more Tq and Hp.

Total charge was $494. I got in on a special for dyno time where that part was no charge. The bike was being worked on for about 8 hours although I think they could have got the job done in a little less. I was at the dealer the whole time.

I felt the improvement in torque mostly in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear. Before this change the bike seemed to kind of go a little flat when I pressed it in those gears, like it wasn't geting enough fuel.

I recently did the same upgrade, but I went w/ the SE204's. I ended up w/ a couple more hp and torque than those #'s but only a couple.

Took the bike out today for about 100 miles and got about 42 mpg, mostly hiway. My last run which was mostly hiway was jus over 43. I'm happy with that given the stronger response. I can really feel the new power just riding down the road. The bike feels like moves more easily.

Peak numbers sound cool. Area under the curve is whats important.
