I've patched/plugged my own tires in the past, But always replaced as soon as I could.

Everybody has a different risk threshold.

Some ride without helmets and feel completely fine while others dare not get on their bikes without one on their heads.

Some ride on plugged/patched tires without worry while others don't feel safe unless a new tire is installed.

Some ride motorcycles while others are confined to 4-wheeled cages.

Each person should decide what is an acceptable amount of risk for them in any given situation.

For me, I've been riding on a plugged rear tire for about 3000 miles. I plugged it myself using a mushroom type plug and feel completely safe. I didn't plug it because I couldn't afford another tire. I just wanted to see if it would work and it does and has - for me.

Good luck to the OP whichever direction you go.

I don't skimp on tires or brakes! If the tire was on my truck I would plug it and not worry but there is a big difference riding on 4 wheels vs 2 wheels. Just my .02.

I guess replacement would be a non issue with me as I have the road hazard tire replacement from Harley along with the 5 yr extended warranty.

Not sure if it covers another brand of tire. If you have Dunlops on your bike I am sure it will replace them with Dunlops but not another brand.

Man you'll be fine plugging it. I picked up a bolt in my tire, took 2 plugs to fill it and I rode 5.5hrs home on it no problem. I actually put about a thousand miles on my rear tire with 2 plugs in it before I finally replaced it with no problems at all. I mean if you have the money, of course replace it but you can get by with the plug

As someone else stated I wonder how many of the people that say they would never ride on a patched/plugged tire get on their bike and ride with no helmet?
