Angry Nail in tire.

I was just out in the garage flushing the brake fluid to get some new stuff in and i noticed a nail in my back tire. the tire doesnt even have 800 kms on it yet. Do you think it would be safe to get it patched and plugged? Or should i just buy a new one?

If i go with a new one is there any better tires that you guys can recommend rather than the stock tires. I just have the stock dunlops on there right now

Motorcycle tires I always replace if there is a nail or screw in it. Not worth the risk. Just my personal choice.

You can repair it without problems if you do it properly. However you will have a hard time finding someone to repair it for you. I am in the tire business so I did my own after picking up a screw at 500 miles on my 08 Fatboy. I did do a pull through wire guide plug and have since put several thousand miles on the tire with no problems.

This post alone should convince you to get a new tire! The word "IF" is why smart riders will change out. Also why do you think it's hard to find someone to repair it? Liability of you dieing maybe?

There are LOTS of guys that have fixed or pluged their tire and not had any issues, but it's the ones that do have issues that we are talking about at 80mph, how lucky do you feel?

Me, I replace the tire. It's kind of a no brainer to me. I don't really care about all the ones that are going to say I'm wrong, just let them dudes ride on. But it definitely isn't safer to plug!

Patch from the inside is the best way.its like pulling the arm on a slot machine, you never know when you are going to hit,the rice rocket nuts will plug them and go 120 miles an hour on them.you just don't know if the plug will hold.if the patch is done right it will hold.if you have the money buy a new tire, avon melzer,if you run over a nail it does not matter what tire you have ,you will get it in the tire

Well i went to the local indy shop and i could not find the size tire i need. 200/55R17 They said it is on order and should get them in end of may or june. I am going to try and order a couple of tires online as the price up here in canada is almost double from what i can find online.

They also said that they will use a combi patch on the tire patch/plug. So i will get it plugged until i can get some new tires.
