Default '07 Heritage. Any high altitude adjustments?

Ride in eastern Kansas about 1000' above sea level. In August I'll be riding from Denver up to Yellowstone, over into the Sheridan, WY. & up to Custer battle field, over to Gillette, Wy. Then back down to Denver and trailer it home. We'll be in some areas at about 7'000 feet, maybe more. Will the bike's fuel injection system compensate for the higher altitudes right out of the trailer, or is there anything else I need to do?

If your fuel injected, you are good to go. I just returned from over 12,000 elevation on my 2005 FLSTCI Heritage. It runs just as well at the beach or at 12,000 feet. SJ Ron

The EFI will take care of it, the only thing you will notice is you will get better mileage at the higher altitudes. Not much power but better mileage.

I've never had a problem with my carb'd bikes running from sea level up to 12,000 feet so you should not have any problem with your FI.

I've ridden my 07 SH 47K at different altitudes. The first trip I noticed some engine knock at certain times that was, I think altitude related and probably some due to the gas. The computer will compensate for the altitude. The only thing I changed from stock was I did the American Custom exhaust mods (I run the mid-range baffle) and added a Amsoil air filter. I also got the XIED (plug and play) electronics that go between the O2 sensors and the computer. That enriched it, so Night Rider says, from 14.7 to 13.8. ppm. Last summer at high altitudes it rarely pinged. I can't say exactly why because of so many variables such as temp, humidity, gas, etc. But I feel they worked.

Smile 7000ft

you shouldn't have a problem. I live in SW Colorado @ 6500ft. I ride over passes every weekend that are 13K. I never have a problem. Have a great time!

When you are at high altitude the motor will run okay but down of power. For a little more pep try the 85 octane that is sold in the high areas. It will burn more completely.

old post, but figured I'd share...just moved to Denver. 2000 Deuce carb'ed with V&H pipes & SE air filter and Dyno jet kit...i noticed a drop in the power right around 2000k when I would increase the throttle aggressively....I turned my fuel mix clockwise by 1/4 and she run's like a scalded ape now. Previously the bike was tuned for sea level (Louisiana/ETX).
