Default Special tool for rear shocks?

I was reading the HD manual today before I came to work and it says you need some special Snap On fitting or something to get the rear shocks off?
Never heard about anyone having an issue but thought I'd ask; do I need anything to swap shocks? ('04)
What will I need? Standard stuff right?

I don't know what year you have, or if it matters, but my 97 just needs a 3/4" box wrench. That's it!

Normal wrenches worked for me. If you want to torque the rear bolts to spec you will need some special tool to get the torque wrench to fit....like a crows foot wrench or something. That's probably what the manual is talking about.

I don't need to torque those- suspension= torque to "really tight"

I'm sure the manual and tech geeks will say you do. But I've built many bikes throughout my life, and never torqued a damn thing. Not even head bolts. Never seen any ill effects from not torquing either. Yep, I just went "really tight". No BFD!

The manual is correct, you need that tool if you want it to be much easier. It can be done with a 3/4 SHORT wrench box in but it will be very time comsuming and a HUGE pain in the ***. I just did my rear rocks on my 1992 Heritage yesterday, it was not fun at first than I called my Snap on guy and he had the tool in the truck, it is a SRES 28, this is the 3/4 head tool. The book actually says a SRES24 and thats wrong like the other guys said. What it is is this.

Like the guys said, it can be done with out this tool but man for $50 it was worth it.

a 3/4" wrench and a hammer will get them undone

No special tools needed, just a set of tools, a jack and some mechanical ability

Got them off today. Was easy enough but was a bit of a pain with my long snap on wrenches. Just a million tiny turns to get it done.
It was easy enough. I took it off the lift cuz I had to go to work- looks bad *** sitting on the stops! Can't wait to get the Hi-Lo under it!
