Default Detailed Paint work

Fellow scooter fanatics, looking for a little info and advice. Currently working on doing some nice detail painting on a derby cover that I had Story engrave.

My question, or lack of knowledge, comes in the form of what layer of paint do i lay down first? The derby cover is black the engraved parts will be white and red. Should I do the black first and then white and red or vise versa? Or does it even matter?

Any advice is helpful, as there is a lot of taping/masking involved due to a lot of detail in the image.

Sorry for no pics will post in Derby **** when done.

I was told to start with the lightest color first. Easier to cover up mistakes with the darker colors.

Yeah I have it all scuffed up good and will clean once more before the marathon tape session to get all the detail lined out.

When I do "graphics" with pinstriping paint, I do the lighter colors first for the reason cited earlier. If there is a black outline I do that first just to help keep the sections seperated, but I go back and clean it up when its done
