Default Newbie - question about Engine Management

Hi, am new to the forum - what a great place and after having always dreamed of a fat boy I'm finally in the market for one!

I'm currently looking at this one:

2001 HARLEY-DAVIDSON FLSTFI FATBOY FUEL INJECT BLACK | eBay
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2001-HARLE...#ht_500wt_1413

What are your collective thoughts on it?

Also the owner has mentioned that:

" The FI modepa has an engine management light on the dash, this has been on since day one, goes on and off. Harley charged me £ 60 to tell me it was a loom earth and would I like them to strip the loom to find it. That was three years ago. Since been all round Europe. "

Should I be concerned?

Have it inspected by a Harley shop before buying it. I wouldn't buy anything with failure lights lit unless it was cheap enough to cover the worst case repair.

That's a lot of money for a private sale for a 2001 Fatboy. I wouldn't expect to pay that much at a dealer.

I also agree with the advice re buying with a warning light lit.

Looks sweet but L11,000 is over US $17,100 (todays exchange) for a 2001/14K bike. If you live in the UK maybe this is a good price. It's not here in the USA.

Don't know what the norm price over there, but if he's asking a lot more for all the Extra's on the bike, over here they don't much for extra's when selling a used bike.

As far a Loom earth I am not sure what that is, but if there's an electrical issue I'd want it fixed before buying it or find out for sure what it is and how much money it will take to fix then the seller should lower his price the same amount.

I believe "loom earth" translates to "a short to ground in the wire harness".
