To baffle or not to baffle

So my wife and I were talking the other day and what she said was she couldn't hear my bike until I was up next to her car. What I heard was honey you should buy louder pipes. I currently have V&H Short shots, now new exhaust is currently not in the budget and someone told me to just take out the baffles. have a 2010 FB LO and the only thing currently done to her is the exhaust. What would happen if I take them out?
I am 62 and have Tendinitis, Google that, Its when Ur ears ring 24-7 and U can't hear anything at a normal Volume...
It was caused from riding bikes when I was young without baffles....
Also I did a lot of shooting without ear protection and worked in a factory for 38 yr that didn't provide hearing protections for 1/2 of those yrs...
U wont hurt U bike as much as Ur ears, If when after riding Ur bike U notice a ring in U ears,, Then Ur well on U way to permanent hearing Loss, unless Ur start protecting them..

Well, I can't dispute that. I too have the ringing in the ears and it is from the same thing, No baffles and shooting. It's also why I am leaving the baffle in with this pythion I now have too. I still have to be honest though. I am suprised so many are running baffles!! Maybe it's just that I am an old fart now and that was how we did things back in the day!! I do know this, the technology from then and now are like night and day too. It's amazing how far they have come when looking back. It was so very simple and plain back where. 2 pistons, 2 tires, a carb and some gas, gap the points and plugs and you were good to go!!!

Yeah that is crazy, i too have Short Shots on my Street Bob and stock baffles that come in the pipes were too tinny and raspy for me and loud as hell. So i got the Quite Baffles and i love them. Still just as loud as you could ever need or want, but now a much cleaner, low end rumble. Try them out they are awesome i love them and gives you that backpressure that you need so you dont rob your bike of too much Hp/torque

I would go with so after market baffles. Reason being is if you want that big sound, you will have to losing gas mileage and HP. Also you will also be wearing your valves out (after a hard day run you will see oil seeping form the intake). The valves or seals don't cost much and they are easy as pie to replace but the safer bet for adding some decibels is after market baffles.
