Default To baffle or not to baffle

So my wife and I were talking the other day and what she said was she couldn't hear my bike until I was up next to her car. What I heard was honey you should buy louder pipes. I currently have V&H Short shots, now new exhaust is currently not in the budget and someone told me to just take out the baffles. have a 2010 FB LO and the only thing currently done to her is the exhaust. What would happen if I take them out?

Get her hearing aides. So many people end up getting QUIET baffles for the pipes you have because they think the stock baffles are too loud. Also, if I'm not mistaken you will lose crucial back pressure if you just pull the baffles.

My Big Shots are pretty loud, and the short shots are louder. I ran without baffles once on my Evo, and I put them right back in.

You'll lose back pressure making your engine a little less efficient, sacrificing HP and gas mileage. Lots of dudes on here and a few I ride with have removed their baffles. Most love the new sound, and it will be significantly louder. As long as you don't mind filling up a little more often, you'll be fine. If you don't have pipes with "removable" baffles, it might be a one-time, one-way operation...don't know for sure. I'm sure someone else that is smarter than I am will be able to weigh in.

Tell her to turn the freaking radio in her car down..

If she can't hear U bike till it up next to her car, maybe she already has a hearing problem.?

I never heard any V&H;s pipes with baffles that are even close to being on the quiet side,, most U can hear a 1/4 mile away.

baffles out and throw in some torque/power cones. I lost low end when removing my baffles but had a very noticeable increase when I had the cones installed.

I have the V&H short shots as well and I'm a bit confused as to how anyone but the deaf can say they can't hear them unless they are right next to them. But anyway mine didn't have the baffles in them when I got the bike and I put them back in. It's still just about as loud but it's a deeper tone and the bike runs a lot better.

you must have went to Green Light :-)...like the shop, not a fan of cones. we need to take a ride one of these days. I was a pro super for many years and and a misplaced ACC guy in sortie gen with the 517th years ago--finished with the Flying Tigers (A-10s) before they left. Sorry for the hijack. OP, you're gonna need some back pressure one way or another, otherwise it's all blow and no go.
