This seems to kind of defeat the whole reason for putting them on don't you think?

Yea i would say so. Most oem bars would accomadate hime or her

Maybe the guy who traded it in, wasn't the one who installed the bars.
I couldn't see installing those bars and having to have them rolled that far back to ride in comfort.
