My opinion is the guard on the softails (standard, nightrain etc) with the 200 tyre looks to wide. A rear guard on a wide wheel needs to be hugging the tyre on the sides not having a 1" clearance.

They must have a lot of left over tail lights from the '05 and earllier models. What were they thinkng fitting that light to a wide guard??

I like the bobtail look (of course), but once you start getting into a bigger tire size, I think the shorter, hugging fenders looks better.

The NT, Standard and Custom are not to bad but what else can you do when they stuck that 200 rear tire on it. IMHO they are slowley taking away the true look of the harley by giving you that custom look (200's should be an option). I like the wide tire but not for myself, I prefer the basics. As for the Dyna WG that rear fender really is ugly! It used to have a real nice curve to it now it looks like a diving board shooting stright out. What the hell! HD is going down hill in the looks dept one bike at a time.If they are not careful the bikes are going to look like vstars, vtx's with all their fat fenders and tires. Scary thought but I see it coming. Almost hate to think what the net motor is going to look like.

jackhammer-
for the most part i agree and fear about future design also
i like wide tire pro-street style bikes but the fender they used isnt as tasteful as it could have been

Jackhammer,is your bike a fatboy? Judging by the fenders I would say yes. But the front end says no. What I am getting at is this- that is the front end look I am after, except the whole front end would be chrome.

Somebody stick a pic of this new bob fender up here. My stooper-slow connection won't load the HD site without timing out, driving me crazy, or melting the phone lines.

Grasman my bike is a standard. I put a fatboy rear fender on it, never really cared for the bobbed look but then again I change my mind every hour of the day. As for the front it is a stock 21" with a 69 xl replica fender. Its metal and cost $80 from JP Cycles on a special they had. I had to shorten the mounts to hug the tire nicely otherwise it sat to high. It also came with spacers.

As for the 200 rear on new HD bikes, again I like the look I just think if you start putting the 200 on all the bikes you have to really modify the look to accomodate it and when you do this it seems to be a big jump from traditional looks to custom with no in between. Is the heritage next then all the dynas leaving the touring models last? Is this where HD is going? Hope not. Progress is good just don't sweep history and tradition under the rug for todays hot trends or you will give new buyers optional bike manufacturers to buy from because they will all look alike.
