Default need your advice on cam choice

looking for your input, I have a 06 Heritage Classic, carbed S/E air Cleaner, Vance & Hines 2 into 1 pro-pipe. I'm boring it out to a 95" going to do some light head work( mainly porting) and cams. Now if my crank runout is .003 or less I can go gear drive, more then that I can go with the new hydraulic upgrade kit. I think gear drive would be nice or should I forget about gear drive altogther and go with the hydraulic upgrade?
Thanks for your help
Sheldon

Make sure if you go with the hydraulic upgrade setup, that you get one that replaces the inner cam chain! The HD version reuses the inner cam chain, and replaces the outer chain only. Without the new inner roller chain, you'll have exactly the same issues as the stock setup, but with a much lighter wallet. If you don't replace the inner chain, save some trouble and just send me the $500.

I have a 2000 Heritage with a 96" - Went with S&S 510g cam - I have no experience with any other cam - From what I read and asked, I was and have been happy - Have the Thunder header 2 in 1 - I am very happy with the perfomance - Due to money, I did cams first then the 96" later on...Spent more on labor touching it twice but funding came late -

I did the same cams with my Ultra - Just keep researching and see what others say - Like everything, do what you can afford and want to do - Good luck...

Who's doin the heads, compression ratio? I doubt your 06 crank is under .003, go for andrews upgrade. I had a 95" carbed bike for awhile alittle over 9.5:1 went with ss570g cams, made 99hp 103tq with the stock cv with thunderslide kit, switched to mikuni 42 and noticed a difference in throttle response. Figure out where you want compression, solo or two up.. If you go for compression more choices, if you stay reasonable, andrews 21 or 26 are gonna be hard to beat. Whichever you do, you're gonna **** once you feel an extra 20-30 hp 15-25 lb tq

Your 06 heads accept higher lift cams so look into Andrews newer 48. Otherwise, 26's or maybe even 204's. Andrews Hydro with the improved oil pump if it were me. Good choice goin with a 2n1. What are you thinking for tuning the build?

The Andrews 37 would be a great choice but you'll need to up the compression to at least 9.8.

I have two bike with gear drive cams and I'm happy with both. S&S and Andrews both have good descriptions of their cams. Check out their sites and see what cam choice will fit your riding style. My cams are the 510G and 585G. I really like the 585, but then again I keep my tach between 2500 t0 3000, just where that cam starts to make good power

I just put a 37h in my 2008 Fatboy on the recommendation of my local tuner. At first I did not like it as it needs some revs to come alive. Now that I have ridden it for a while, I am liking it more. If I could do it over, I would pick either the SE204 or Andrews 48. BTW, have you thought about going with gear drive and getting rid of the chain?
