Question shotgun shock question???

Heard so much about this shock and their web site tells it like it is. Everything positive about it. I am also in the process of getting new wheels for my Fat Boy. Don't know if I should stick with the 16 in. or get the 18 in. like most are getting these days. My question is will the Shotgun shock work better with the 16 or 18 in. wheels? Anyone out there running the 18 with the Shotgun? Would love to see some pics of both 16 and 18 with the Shotgun...

I have an 18" with shotgun. No real issues. If I let all air out and have it completely dropped it will rub. I don't ride like that and that might be the case with the 16 too

I go 18 on the front, 16 on the back.. If I let ALL the air out i could hear the belt rub. But if i raise her up maybe a 1/4 inch, she rydes thug with NO problems!

Default No Rubbin

Just put a General Altimax 205/55R 17 on my fatboy lo and have no rubbin issues. Smooth ride and still adjusting. Put the shocks on at the same time so not sure what's doing what yet but got a 5000 mi trip starting Sunday so ought to be a wizz on adjustments by the time I get home or will have the compressor worn out trying to figure it out. Also put a 140/70B 18 on a PM Gasser wheel up front with 13" disc and 6 piston caliper. Think I need a bigger master cylinder to get full benifit of brake. She stops but takes alot of hand pressure.

I went with an 18 running a 140/70/18 and I ride slammed unless 2up and never rub. The reason I went with the 18 primarily is so you see more spokes and it tucks the wheel into the fender, which is one of the points of slamming something be it a cage or bike. The 140/70 isn't widely available and Avon is one of the only bigger names that produce the 140/70 and I guess is part of the reason a lot of folks go with the 150/70 on an 18x4.25, which some have stated is a very tight fit. Another reason I stayed with the 18x3.5" with the 140.

The 150 is a tight fit but no issues with it. I think when I had all air out and slammed my tire rubbed the tail light wiring harness (not the sides) If I added just a touch of air it would have been fine.

Thanks to all who replied. Will I have issues if I go with the 18x4.25 wheel and a 160 tire in the rear along with the shotgun? Thanks again...

I think your issue with the 160 will be more about rubbing the sides of the fender, not so much the shotgun lowering it and rubbing. With my 150 I can't fit my finger inbetween the tire and fender, and I don't have sausage hands
