Default Two Days - Two Flats?

Okay, so September is not my best month of the year, but this month has sucked big time for me and now I have had two flats in two days, WTF.

Now I am not looking for sympathy, I looking for solutions. I have tube based tires both front and rear, what is the "best practice" I should be using?

That really stinks my New Hampshire friend!! What the heck happened to them? Nails, etc?? They can get expensive fast. Sometimes they can be fixed IF you can find a place to fix them...they want to sell you a new tire. I would repair a rear tire, but would probably replace a front tire...

Both in the front tire. First one was a big staple, never found the second one. I just road it home flat figuring I was going to replace tire anyway.

I'm ordering a new tire today, should be here by Thursday...

Check YOUR riding style. Do you spend alot of time in the middle of the road where the Car tires DON"T pick up the trash?

Good suggestion. I almost never ride in the middle.

Has anyone tried any of the tire sealant products?

Do they work or is it just snake oil?

Tire sealants don’t work on tube tires. That and you can’t plug them in an emergency, that is why I run mags.
Most flats happen on the rear, very seldom on the front. Most nails, staples ect, are picked up off the road, where they have a tendency to stand up instead of lying down.
If you had a flat and was a staple then fixed the tube or replaced the tube in the old tire, chances are they did not get out the culprit and it ruined the new tube.
That or they pinched the tube when they put it in and blamed you for it.

We had a tradgic death here in Shreveport this year were someone topped off a low tire with fix a flat just to get bike home. Had his wife and small child follow him home, tire went flat at 50mph, locked up tire and threw him under a large truck tire. Didn't have a chance.

Mags, tubeless, can patch it on the road.

I've only had one flat and it was on the front. Problem was it took two times to fix it right. After the first flat, the dealer I stopped at only replaced the tube and told me the tire was fine. However it wasn't, apparently the first flat caused enough of a problem with the cord of the tire that it cut into the new tube and I got a flat again. So I ended up at two dealers, paying for two repairs, two tubes and one tire. I don't know if that was your problem or not but replacing the tire is a good idea if you're not sure.
