2003 Screamin Eagle Deuce
A Buddy of mine traded his 2008 Lowrider with a dealership in South Carolina for a 2003 Screamin Eagle Softail deuce, even trade, went to do paperwork ( send off title, get tags, he lives in VA.) Bike Had clear SC title, come to find out the bike had a salvage VA. title. He called the dealership told them the problem, they said they would do whatever it took to make it right. He likes the bike, it rides fine, runs great, just dont know if it is a salvage because it was stolen at one time or wrecked or what. I told him they need to bring his lowrider to him and get the Deuce or if he wants to keep it then they need to cut him a fairly large check since it will be branded as salvage. What do ya'll think.
According to KBB, with no price modifications for mods, mileage etc the Lowrider trade-in is about $8,100. The SE Deuce retail (excellent condition, no price adjustment for mods or mileage) is $13,600. Sounds to me like the dealer already knew about the salvage title and deducted $5,500 from the price. I don't know what a salvage title SE Deuce SHOULD go for but I guess it depends on what caused the salvage title in the first place, and who did the repairs, etc etc etc etc.
Personally, given the above, I'd run like heck away from this deal. The dealer knew and didn't tell him. Demand the old bike back and start looking again. Scumbag dealer it sounds like.

A salvage title bike could be perfect, depending on what's been replaced.
Insurance company "totaled" my last bike. $14,300 dealer repair estimate. I probably could have put it back together as a "custom" for about $3000, if I didn't charge for my own labor. The deal breaker was that the insurance company wanted about $8000 for it (what they thought they could get at auction), and I had to consider resale value with a salvage title.
In other words, besides potentially taking hit upon resale, it might be a perfectly fine bike.
