Default 2013 fatboy vibration

i just traded in my 2009 electra glide classic for a 2013 fatboy. Very happy with the bike except that i have noticed a vibration and sound when accelerating (not hard but semi-hard). It is hard to describe the sound. Its like a thump thump sound. Like if i was lugging the engine. This sound is transferred to the handlebars as vibrations. I check all the engine mountbolts and they are all tight. I know i am not lugging the engine because it happens at any rpm (2300, 2500, 2800) and at any gear. I come from a rubber mounted engine so i do not know if this is normal. Does anyone have this issue?

thanks

going from a rubber mounted non-balanced engine to a solid mounted balanced motor, you're bound to feel and hear a difference. my 07 has a resonation/buzz type vib around those rpms. its always done it so i have to consider it normal. i'll get worried when it stops doing it. lol..

They all do that.

A Glide is glass-smooth at cruise, a rigid-mount Softie tingles at speed.

If you are worried, get the dealer to ride it and see what he thinks!!

I've had our 07 Heritage since new and I have NEVER felt any kind of vibration in her at all....

I've read that some do in here but I am not sure what they are experiencing,,, BUT IMO it ain't NORMAL and probably is caused by something else besides the motor.

That being said probably over 70% in here buy used bikes and really they can't say how the bike has been treated before they got them.

I've read n here many times that constant over-winding and Burn outs are the two Hardest things U can do to a B motor..

For anyone to say that a TC motor has a constant BUZZ to it is,, again IMO,,, Wrong..

Not to toot my horn but as a retire Maintenance man of 38yrs,, If my/our Heritage had a Buzz or vibration I would notice it right away, simply because I was trained and learned to notice vibrations and bearings noises more so that the average person in all my yrs of working on machinery.

SO,, IMO if Ur noticing a buzz or vib in Ur bars I would not hesitate to take her back in for a check up..

Also remember that a lot of 12 and 13 bike are having spoke issues, Check Ur spokes for any loose ones..

Good luck and hope U get her figured out

And Please let us know If U find out what's if anything was/is wrong with her...

I'll also add if U get some of the Lugging post,, 2300 rpms ain't lugging her.. if camed right, like my 26h's U can ride even at 2k and she'll pull it fine....

Man - My Fatboy shakes and vibes heaps! Especially under acceleration!! I can really feel the thumping of the motor.

Don't forget you have to pistons going at a million miles an hour right below your backside!!!

I have had Dynas, a RK and a Heritage. It has a bit of a buzz I can feel at a steady 75-80 the others didn't have. It's not alarming and had I not had the other HDs, I wouldn't have noticed. It should not be a lot different than your Electra Glide.

i took out the fb today for a run and i do feel a little of the thumping an acceleration but nothing bad. Very good power coming out of the 103. I think i am just getting use to it.

Thanks for all your input!!!!!!

Remember, the motor is bolted directly to the frame. You're gonna feel that, counterbalancers or not. It's a totally different feeling from a rubber-mount Electra Glide.
