Same thing happened to me, returned it and bought a PV2. There should be more of a caution from Dynojet and other venders about connectivity before folks buy the wrong one.

Just an FYI....

The PowerVision full service tuners, PV-1B, PV-2B, & PV-3B are all the same tuner. They just have different cables and use 2 different firmware "updates" between the three of them.

The PV-1B & PV-2B use the same firmware loaded into the tuner, but different cables. The "-1B" uses the J1850 connector (4 pin) diagnostic port plug and the "-2B" uses the pre-'21 CanBus connector (6 pin) diagnostic port plug.

The PV-3B uses different firmware from the "-1B" & -2B", and uses the red colored, male, 6 pin connector diagnostic port plug for the '21+ ECMs.

As long as you have all three cables, you can tune all three types of bikes with the same tuner... however.... you will need to "update" to the newer firmware, to tune a '21+ ECM. Then you can always change back ("update") to the older firmware, to then tune J1850 or pre-'21 CanBus bikes. AFAIK, you can switch back & forth between the two different firmware downloads or "updates" as often as you wish.

I don't have a '21+ bike, but I have successfully "updated" my older PV-1 tuner to the '21+ firmware, and then back to the pre-'21 firmware...

I actually did it a couple times, because I was confused by them calling the firmware change an "update". Once I figured it out what was happening, I "updated" back to the pre-'21 firmware and left it in my tuner until such time that I need to tune a '21+ bike...

Hey, it was good practice for me...

Since we are kicking around and old thread from 2013.

I trust Dynajet entirely. Good service and always available for either calls or email answers.
