Default Dual front disk brakes - 1996 Fatboy

Hello Everybody,

I have owned a fatboy for 19 years and lately I have been working on it to put it back in shape. One thing I always wanted is to put a second disk in the front. Since one of the items I'm upgrading are the fork lower legs, this would be the time to buy the lower fork legs of a tourer and add a disk on the right side. Has anyone done this before? My only doubt is about how to fit the disk o the solid wheel. I guess it is a straightforward job, but I've never seen a Harley with solid wheel and dual disk. Any comment is very much appreciated.
Thank you.

Few things come to mind-
  1. Fork lowers legs are different on the Touring bikes.
  2. Fender mounts are different
  3. FL front forks on softail are slightly narrower than FL forks on touring bikes.
  4. Wheel will need to be machined
  5. Will need new master cylinder
  6. Check bearing sizes, may need new axle
  7. May need new cow bells since touring fork leg is different
Most of the parts are available from HD. Pretty sure a dealer won't touch it because it's custom work.

Thanks! Need to check on each of the points you make. Maybe I can find the fork leg I need to fit a fatboy from some aftermarket supplier.... Probably a complete front end...

Yea, the softails put abs on this year standard. Wish it would have been dual disks instead.

I understand the triple trees to be different as well.
