"No RSP" error code on Engine Diagnostic
So, I've got a 2009 Rocker that started acting strangely lately. When I turn the ignition on, the fuel pump takes about a second before it starts up and primes the system (it used to be instant). The bike still runs fine, but there is an E code. The bike's battery also won't hold a charge for more than about a day (brand new battery).
I went into diagnostic mode and under the "Engine" section, the code is no rsp. From what I've gathered you'll get that if the ignition switch is off, but in my case it's on.
The ECM is a Thundermax AutoTune. When I connect via laptop, it won't communicate anymore.
So my suspicion is that the AutoTune has gone bad. It seems strange that the bike still runs, however...and why is it eating batteries?

If you have a bad battery it can do a lot of things. I would guess the battery is more likely the culprit of the problems rather than the AutoTune having gone bad. Get a new battery and see what happens.
Unfortunately, getting a brand new battery was step one. The problem still exists.
I've been in contact with Thundermax, and they've been trying to help. The main problem is I'm located overseas so pulling the AutoTune and sending it in is a last resort option. I want to make sure I've done everything else first.

Well, when I hooked the laptop to the Thundermax, it refused to talk to it. Suspected the TMax was toast. Since it was out of warranty, I ordered a new one. Installed it and the bike started right up. Took it out and ran around for an hour...no problems. Let it sit for two days, and it started no problem. Went to work, came back at lunch no problem. Went back to work, came out after work and it's dead as a doornail.
So, something is intermittently killing the battery QUICKLY. I'm reading around and there seems to be some idea that it might be the voltage regulator?
One thing I notice is that the issue of the fuel pump experiencing a slight delay before it spins up (it used to be instant) is still going on. Could the voltage regulator cause this??
I am totally at a loss.
