Default A positive Indy Mech experience

A few weeks ago I have a local mechanic change my mufflers to SE slip ons; while the bike was there he also changed the intake and fuel pak (to enrich the mixture lowering operating temp).

Went for a ride a few mornings ago and again yesterday. Both days had problems with the engine suddenly losing power and nearly cutting out. Called him this morning....he asked me to bring the bike in today if possible. I did; he installed a fuel pak...suggesting that there might have been a problem with the previous one, and didn't want me to be wondering when the next time the engine would cut out.....no charge.

Pretty happy with the approach and attitude.

Good thing that he took care of you. Should never have gone with the FP in the first place, though.

Had a Vance & Hines fuel pak installed on my 2008 Heritage. After 500 miles it failed - - lucky for me I had been told to just remove it if a problem and hook the ECM back up.. I did, and it started and ran fine.
Now have a new fuel pak installed, and hope no more problems.
Just for a "feel good thing", I had the ECM remapped for the mufflers and air cleaner. If the fuel pak fails again, I will be okay to ride the bike, otherwise with the muffler and air cleaner change, the bike should not be ridden without a re-map or fuel management system.

If the ECM has been remapped, why have the fuel pak on there at all?
And there shouldn't be any danger riding the bike with the stock tune, as long as your mods are just pipes and an air cleaner. The ECM compensates pretty well for things like that.

remapping the ECM will still be lean and to epa standards. fuel pack will richen it up some. intake or exhaust is o.k. to leave ecm alone, but you need to do something if you do both--xieds are another option and cost very little.

He did what he was supposed to do. It was a comeback.
