installing a wider tire on duece
i was curious if anyone knew if a wider tire could be installed on the factory rim without major modifications....or does the swingarm have to go....i'm not looking at a 250 or something that drastic....just a bit fatter...

I have to wonder - what 'gains' are you expecting? It won't handle any better, probably just a little bit worse to tell the truth. It won't have any more traction for either braking or accelleration - that's a function of vehicle weight, air pressure, and tire compound not total tire width. Its higher weight (mass actually) will hamper suspension movement just a little bit and of course it sucks up just a little bit more horsepower to get the heavier tire spinningtoo. So overall its hard to say just what it is that might improve by going to the wider tire. I guess it looks a little bit better but to be quite honest about it the difference isn't really that noticable.

I put a 200mm Avon on my stock swing arm with no modifications. I ordered the rim from DM Customes and they set the spacers, mounted and balanced the tire and shipped to me. Here is what it looks like.
man does that ever look nice..............sweet job

d35,
Thanks. I like it also. The biggest cost will be the custom wheel you buy. The cost for the kit and spacers is minimal. I think the real wheel and spacers was about $1000 plus the cost of the tire. I ordered everything through DM Customes and they shipped mounted and balanced wheels. The instructions for the install were pretty simple. I had a buddy help me with the install, put it on and started riding. Check out http://www.dmcustoms.net/#
