Folks I'm travelling from Australia to ride through the West across to Texas and would love to capture the road, the sights and places I visit, can anyone recommend a Go Pro or particular model or type of video camera that can be mounted on a HD Road Glide and any suggestions where to stick in on the bike?

GoPro owner here and I would recommend them. I will suggest that you don't waste your money on one of the new ones$$$. Scan ebay for a used Hero 3, they take amazing video and are less complicated to use. Probably score one for $120 or so. A slight learning curve so don't wait till your trip to figure it out.
As far as locations on the bike, a suction cop mount on the fairing would be my suggestion but the best footage ( and geekiest look) is on the top of your helmet, but you have to be aware to keep your noggin as still as possible or the video is nauseus to watch.....
