Default Speedometer cable routing?

Noticed today that this zip tie is really not up to par, and it would rub the wheel at times. How do you have your speedo cable routed/secured? Also, on the last picture, looks I am missing something? Cotter pin?

Better option would be a cable clamp attached to the frame down tube. J&P Cycle sells them.
