Speedo isn't working. Pulled off the gauge and unscrewed the cable. Pushed the bike and the drive didn't turn. Therefore I suspect a broken cable. No big deal except, how do you get the cable out of the unit on the front wheel?
Different bike but I just did this on mine, the cable unscrews at the wheel unit, mine has two flat spots to grab on with a wrench, hard to see them though, it took about 5 minutes total. Make sure your cable is fairly straight and diconnected from the speedo when unscrewing it.
Hope this points you in the right direction and that yours is somewhat the same.
On mine it was the very end of the cable near where the black meets the metal, if that makes sense. I used a pair of pliers and was gentle until I figured it out. On mine it didn't look like it would screw out, but it did.
Figured out how to get the cable out. After I pulled the whole collar out I figured out the cable just twist screwed out. Oh well, the collar fit back in without an problems.
Cable is good. Twist one end, other spins. Looks like it is the front wheel unit. Another $35.
Guess I'd better get a JPs catalog. Then I can compare thier prices with DK.
Did you check the speedo where the cable goes in? It may be stripped out. I checked mine by inserting the lower end of the cable into a drill in reverse mode. Mine read 20mph.
