1973 xlch. bike didn't have speedo or tach when i bought it. needs different cable for the mini speedo i bought. prob i'm having is how do i get the cable off the drive on the wheel? doesn't seem to want to turn,so is it threaded or does it connect some other way? thanks
The cable end is threaded. You have to disconnect the cable at the top then turn the entire cable as the fitting is crimped on at the wheel end.
Also there is a tiny tiny set screw into the bottom of the speedo drive preventing the cable from turning. Very difficult to see but it is there. Can be difficult to remove if it is in there tight - needs a tiny screwdriver.

Wow, I didn't know that. One of these days I'll have to take a close look at mine. I've put many on and never had a problem with them not turning.
