Default 2014 Iron wet oil tank cover

This may be a nonissue that I am unaware of but after googling for a little while I found no mention of this. the picture is hard to see but what i found was that there was nothing wet on the inside meaning right behind the header. the seat has a bit, the oil tank cover is in-fact covered. A bit on the exhaust (although I have high pipes) and it seems nothing on the engine. At least nothing noticeable, I cant see any leaks. The residue is kind of gummy meaning its either gas or oil or possibly that area just because a bug graveyard. I really only see it when I ride the crap out of the bike meaning just revving it pretty good. At the moment it has a bit over 2 thousand and is two months old. Didnt notice anything before my thousand mile. I will be calling the dealership tomorrow but I doubt theyll be helpful if I say "my oil tank cover is wet and I dont know where from."

Update. I took apart my air cleaner and my throttle body seems to be spitting up a bit. How bad is this and is it the result of a bad tune? bad air cleaner? completely normal?

Oil level to high. That is a sure way in making them puke that much oil.

If your oil level is too high, you will get blow by the thru the breather bolts.
Very common problem in big V twins including metrics.

This is one of the easiest tools to use to remove too much oil from a Sportster/

Clean you air filter also because its most likely soaked. If its the stock one and really bad, throw in a new one or else you will be restricting the air.

Edit: Take it back, you don't seem to have the stock AC. If its a reusable type like K&N clean it and prep it. If not just replace if needed.

It is a k&n, should I make a point to get it cleaned out? And unfortunately I do not have a baster (somehow). Looks like I'm heading to walmart

I would clean it, no sense in risking it, if it got soaked. Use the K&N cleaning and oil kit. Using the baster is the easiest way for extracting the oil.

Well looks like I will be awake for a bit waiting for the filter to dry if I want to commute with the bike tomorrow. Took some oil out (didnt want to warm up the bike while people are sleeping) and Ill assess the oil at lunch tomorrow when its all warmed up. Regardless, thank you all for the suggestions and I will get it all worked out. Anytime I hear or see something I get worried.
