Default A/C upgrade worth it?

I have a '94 1200 that is pretty much all stock still except for the larger gas tank.

Would I see any noticeable changes in performance in switching to a high flow A/C without any other upgrades for now? Also, if I were to make the change would anything else have to be done other than rejetting the carb?

I haven't ever felt the need to add A/C to any motorcycle lol

I recently put a DK Customs 636 on my buddies 91' Sportster 1200 and it performed nicely. Has a really aggressive, loud sucking sound coming from the intake too.
Outlaw HiFlow 636v Air Cleaner

On rejetting the carb, I used this kit from CV Performance
Harley Carb Tuners Kit
Comes with all the instructions that you will need to tackle the job with zero experience.

Haha, thanks Justin. I appreciate the links. I haven't made up my mind yet but I'm leaning towards going ahead with the upgrade unless someone else on here talks me out of it.

DK for the price can not be beat. pretty much every a/c does the same thing, just just look different. i have a outlaw 587 super easy to install i also got the synthetic filter. no oil! or cleaning ever. I think worth the extra airflow and looks. looks is a big part of it for sure. I love see thru stuff, im a sucker for anything that has a clear window view or visible moving parts.

Whatever goes in must come out. So just the ac itself may not make that noticeable of a difference in power till you upgrade the exhaust too.
Check for lean conditions (ie heat, spark plugs, etc) when you do replace the ac. That will let you know if you need the larger jets for the carb.

When I put V&H exhaust on and still stock ac I didnt need the larger jets. When I upgraded the ac, I had a lot of flat throttle and popping. Bought the same kit off CV Performance and upped my jets and retuned. Runs much smoother and snappy throttle.

Thanks for the feedback guys. A new exhaust would be the next thing on my list, but it probably wouldn't be for some time after the a/c. I'm still on the fence on whether I want to start throwing money into this bike or keep it stock and start saving for a new one.

you're not going to ad value to the bike by upgrading it in most cases, so I'd say leave it stock and save for a new one if that's what you really want.

Why do you want to change just the AC...looks or performance? I agree with Syris in that just the AC will not make a noticeable difference. But if you want a high flow AC, DK Customs is the place to go....IMHO if you are looking at performance then do AC, exhaust, rejetting....then you will notice a difference.

I had performance in mind. I guess at this point I'll have to go all in with the ac and exhaust if I want to get any results. Decisions decisions. Thanks all for the input

Performance wasn't my reason for my air cleaner mod. I got it for looks cause I love the way the Dark Customs stuff looks. And I really dislike the stock sportster filter box. Does it help? Probably cause I don't see how it can hurt.
