Default Helmets

I am not trying to start the helmet debate. I wear a helmet. I'm trying to get the pros and cons of the full face vs half helmet.

Well Annie! My wife would say that a helmet is the difference between an open casket, or a closed casket funeral.

Myself, I do (usually) wear my little skid lid. I wear my full face only when I motovlog as it holds my mic and sena setup, and my GoPro setup.

I don't use a face shield in either case, so I can't say either one keeps my face warm, but I would think all the cold weather folks use them.

My head is just too dang big to wear a 1/2 or a 3/4 helmet. They look foolish one me. So I wear a helmet it's a full face to hide that fact.

totally a personal choice unless mandated by law. do you, not what others do.... pros and cons are pretty clear if you apply thought to the situation.

protection from:
  • the ground
  • hard things
  • cars
  • your own bike (s**t happens)
  • weather/elements
  • identification
  • road debris
  • critters

you determine your own level of involvement in project mayhem.

i have 5 helmets. 1 vega altura FF, 2 torc t50s 3/4, 1 bell 500 3/4, 1 bell revolver evo 2nd gen FF.

i never understood the point of a 1/2. it's not going to help when s**t goes down. your face, neck, rear of your head, get trashed... top of your head... not a scratch. ugly vegetable is the result.

YMMV

At a HWP clinic I did he told of an accident where a victim (himself) had his face crushed around the shape of his half helmet. How likely is this to happen? In an accident, how likely is a persons face to be effected? That's my issue.... Can't break my pretty face!

I'm a ff guy personally. I saw in impact zone diagram once (probably floating around on the internet somewhere) and the highest area of impact, when you hit the ground, is your chin area. I prefer shoei as they are super lightweight. My two cents.

I saw the same one. Everyone I talked to that had accidents hit the back of their head, not the front. (Except the one guy).
