Default 883 to 1200 big bore kit

Hey Guys ,
So im going to be installing an S&S 883-1200 big bore kit on my 2010 iron 883. No cams or anything else. I already have V&H Shortshots, V&H fuelpak and SE Heavy Breather. My question is do i need to buy a power commander , have it tuned or get the codes from V&H for the fuelpak. Im new at the tuning end of this so any input is appreciated ! Thanks

I would imagine the fuelpak can be recalibrated for 1200cc but you should call V&H directly and confirm with them.

Thats what I thought also . I called them earlier today and maybe i didnt explain it correctly but they told me i would need to flash the Ecu or get the FP3 not sure if they are just trying to sell it or what lol. I even tried calling S&S and they said they werent sure about the fuelpak and to get a power commander . Ive heard a few different things so i figured i would try here .

Hmmm, yes maybe you have an older model fuelpak, sadly you can't even sell it as it is locked to your VIN number.
I guess your upgrade just got a bit more expensive!

You'll need another way of tuning other than the FuelPak. I believe the FP3 is only for use with the CANBUS model sportsters (14-16) so you'll need another piggyback tuner such as a Power Commander or you could get a flash tuner like the SERT or Power Vision. The FuelPak you have doesn't marry to the ECM so your able to sell it to recoup some cash. You'd have to check the part number but it should be compatible with all 07-13 models with the Delphi system.

I'm CANbus and I think I can just set a new map and tell it I've installed a 1200+ kit.

There are several tuner options, however as you are fitting an S&S product and have their advice on what to use, that would be a simple route to take! Makes the way ahead easier IMHO.

grbrown is exactly correct. If you're using S&S's kit, you need to get tuning instructions from them. They have a vested interest in the success of your project. If you have some kind of an issue, and you didn't follow their tuning instructions, you can't very well hold them responsible

Thanks guys. I reached out to S&S they reccomended the dynojet power vision because thats what they endorse. They also said other tuners may work. Before i called them i was looking into the SERT but could not find it for my year bike which is a 2010. I was trying to not pay 500 + dollars for a tuner, but think i dont really have a choice . Im not really concerned with dialing it in for racing just wanted to satisfy the big bore kit. Well I guess if I'm going to do it I should do it right! glad i checked here before i pulled the bike all apart
