21" Front Wheel, Sportster Low model
Hi all. Haven't been on here for a while. Sold my 2000 Blue Dyna a couple yrs ago and have been riding a dual sport ... but planning on picking up a Sportster 1200.
A 2006 Sportster 1200 Low that I'm considering has the 19" alloy front wheel, although I do prefer a chrome spoked wheel. I'm wondering if a 21" will fit under the front fender with no modification, and if it will handle normally along with the stock back wheel.
Also, I'm wondering about the Low model. A fellow at the local shop said it's only 1" lower seat height, but I'm 6'1" tall, and wondering if I'll be wanting the height back. Would this be just a matter of adding some taller rear shocks, and along with the larger front wheel, to possibly add some seat height?
Thanks for any info,
JT

Here is what my larger wheel with stock fender looks like:
With respect to height, yes install some taller shocks...perhap progressive 13.5" which is a 2" increase from stock 11.5".

Wheel is DNA 52 fat spoke mammoth. AC is DK Customs Outlaw 587 with chrome bobber cover, but subsequently changed it to a v-stack. AC is an easy install.

I agree with hscic on the front tire w/o any mods to the fender. The 2006 Sportster Custom and the 2006 Low were virtually identical bikes and the Custom had the 21" you are wanting.
On the height, you could use a taller Dyna shock, but many here have had good luck using Road King air shocks to get taller. You might try the Touring classifieds for those once you get that Sporty.
