V and H fuel pac for So Cal
Not sure if this question has come up before so here goes, I have a California model 2016 48 and would like to install Vance and Hines fuel pak model 66005 on my 48 but from what I've gathered the 66005 is a 49 state model and the 66005A is the California model because of smog law here. My question is can I install the 49 state model without any adverse affect to my bike ? The reason is I've read is the 49 state model will install better tune than California model because California model will only tune so much because of smog laws here. I know California has the whole "Anti Tampering Law" but it's not like they smog the bike every 2 years like cars and trucks, if I get pulled over does the cop automatically do a smog check to see if I've tampered with the boys bike ? Or am I just overthinking this ? Really would like to make the fuel pak my next purchase.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Im not able to tell you what the 49 state version offers vs the California edition, however I will say that a LEO is not a trained ASE certified Smog Tech, from my understanding they are not in the authority to write a citation for smog-related equipment. The obvious exception is if its something unrelated to smog but related to their laws (Noise), If your car or bike has major muffler damage and your breaking a noise decibel limits then they can pop you on that...
In short, no a cop won't be doing a smog check on your bike, and their not going to pull you over unless you have done something wrong in their eyes, but if he pulled you over already he may come up with some bogus reason to ticket you (missing reflectors?? I dunno)
I had a cop pull me over once in my jeep wrangler because my reg sticker wasn't on. I was super polite, let him know that the registration is current but I must have forgot to put the sticker on, he didn't believe me but after he ran my plates and saw it was current, he LITERALLY walked a circle around my rig, only to say "hmm, looks like your missing a rear view mirror, you should get that fixed" wrote me a fix-it ticket and went on his way.
If they feel you wronged them, they will try and dig up something, but usually its insignificant and more of an annoyance...
