I am the op. I took my hf jack back to hf store this am (lifting arms were not parallel ) and exchanged it for another. Put the new one together and went to place it under my 2016 1200C, it is about an 1/8 of an inch to tall to totally fit under bike. So I am going to get a couple of pieces of 3/4 plywood to put under wheels. Is that what most are doing or is there a way to lower the jack itself

maybe the titan mentioned by apache snow earlier will work for you. hscic went with the titan jack as well because of clearance:

I use the same setup. When not riding my bike for a longer period of time I park it in the basement through a set of French doors and onto a wheel chock. I also do all my maintenance work in the basement, the wheel chuck makes using the HF jack much easier. Roll the jack under, lift bike and pull the wheel chock out of the way, reverse procedure when completed.
Also there is 2 different HF motorcycle jacks. Both look identical but, model # 61632 closes down to 4-3/4" and model # 60536 closes down to 5-1/2". I opted for 61632 having the lower clearance.
