Default Able to stage I, Without stage I parts?

Hey guys,
Ive been interested in cutting out the baffles and installing DK TTI's. Ive also looked at gutting the airbox back-plate, basically modding the oem similar to the screaming eagle stage I and swapping in a K&N replacement filter.

With both the exhaust and intake done as I've mentioned, does that equal a stage I that will require a tune?

Regardless of what you call it (stage 0.5, 0.75, 1, whatev) it seems that whenever you open up both the intake and the exhaust, you need a tune. I'll let others chime in; I'm no expert.

That said, I punched a hole through my two baffles and I also opened up my intake, and I didn't need a tune. The hole through my baffles is small though (3/8"), because I didn't want louder, just a bit more free-flowing. For the intake, I tossed away the stock filter and went with a stack. That's as free-flowing as it gets.

So. You're probably gonna have to experiment and be prepared to buy a tuner.

HTH.

For best results, always tune.

do you absolutely have to tune it? no. Should you? YES.

Stop being cheap and do it right, you'll get more power, better fuel economy, and much better throttle response out of a properly tuned bike.

Something like the Dynojet Powervison and you can use a map that they supply for a "Stage 1" and get fairly close on what would be perfect for what you have done. And you can use the powervision to auto tune as you ride and get the tune even better. And then you still have the powervision to make more adjustments down the road should you ever want to do more engine work/ cams down the road, you can just retune it again or a dyno tuner can perfect the tune for you.

Why don’t you just do it right the first time?

200$ tuner. Good enough.

300$ slip-ons, best performance in slip-ons, comparable to a 2into1. LOUD and mean sound.

Could also get the rush, very similar.

Gut the airbox and get k&n.
You can do air filter or exhaust without a tune. If you do both you will need a tune. The popping will drive you crazy.

Sorry, but when it comes to the engine running properly we're no longer talking about preference.

I would search the classifieds for an intake. Here is one for $100. I think it's better than gutting your current one. Plus, if you ever sell your bike, you can keep the intake and put the stock on back on.

Also, a FuelMoto Micro EFI is not a bad place to start if you are on a budget. I have one I pulled off of my bike with maps if you are interested.

We absolutely are talking about preference.

You can waste time trying to say cool stuff and taking hard stances but, doesn't change a thing. If someone wants to do something one way (for whatever reason) and you dont think it's right according to your beliefs/opinion/preferences/perspectives, than the problem lies within you.

Read between the lines of the first post. What is really being said? If it aint there it aint there, or the preference is to allocate resources elsewhere. Thats the preference...and thats fine.

The bike isn't going to explode if it isnt tuned after the planned modifications. Matter of fact, it will be just fine. The bike can be tuned later if desired. Could it run better with a tune to take advantage of the changes? Sure. Is it 100% nessesary? Abosolutly not. It's a mf'n preference.

"Properly" is bulls*** anyway. From the factory, stock bikes are running lean and venting blowby into the combustion chambers. That's proper to hd. If left alone, the stock bike will run just fine.. but not properly to somebody's standards somewhere... can please em all.

call me an a***ole or disregard what i'm saying. .. duddnt matter to me. I'm past the point of giving af about what people think.
