That sucks bro. I have Bassani Firepowers also. They really are loud as ****. Thankfully I've never had an issue down here in South Florida, but then again, really don't think the authorities give a damn about that sort of thing down here...

Sorry to hear that. I got stopped a few weeks ago for the same thing. I have Cycle Shacks w/ no baffles and DK inserts. Not terribly loud, but loud enough I guess. He didn't give me a ticket though. He was nice enough and said it was a "courtesy stop" just to inform me *eye roll*. Then again, he divulged he was on overtime at the moment so I'm sure he was looking for any excuse to pull someone over to justify patrolling around. I live in south Florida as well and they typically don't care about that stuff. First time I've been pulled over in the two years I've owned the bike.

Pulled over once in '69, naturally i had straight pipes, it sounded so good. Anyway he came up to the bike which i had shut down after stopping and he asked me to start it.
I told him it might take a few minutes as it was a little cantankerous. He told me to try, so every time i kicked the bike thru i held the kill switch in, naturally it wouldn't start. After 10 minutes i told him i might have to let it sit for 30 or 45 minutes, he said he'd be looking for me next time. Yes sir, 3 bags full. Never saw him again and naturally i wouldn't think about changing my pipes.

I can't speak for Canadian law.
Seems this is just a fine?
I'd pay it and move on.
If more like a US "Fix It" ticket, would need to install some OEM pipes and get the ticket signed off. And pay your fine.
If court date, your only argument is a decibel meter inaccurate procedure or fault. I'd think a Judge would see aftermarket pipes & support LEO opinion of loudness. Need more info, but I think this is a losing case.
For future, torque inserts sound like a good preventative step. Or quiet down you bike in traffic.
You have one of the first posts I recall concerning sound or emission compliance ticketing in our new era. A test case for us all?
Let us know the outcome.
Good luck.
