Default Trouble code reading and clearing

Not sure if anyone can answer this since I have asked my local Harley sevice department and they could not or would not give a answer.
I know codes can be read on the speedometer/ODO.
I want to know if they can be read thru the diagnostic port and reset. I ask because if I remove my speedometer and all my controls to pursue flat track, can the dealer still look up trouble codes and clear them using the diagnostic port.

I have a Daytona TwinTech II ABS that I use to read and rest DTC codes as well as bleed my ABS system. My TTS Master Tune can read/reset DTC's as well. Both attach to the data port. Granted this is on a 2013 Road King but I expect the Sportster would be the same?

What year is your Sportster?
I have a 2017 and have a FP3 connected to the CAN connector. With that in place I can read and clear codes. I guess it would be the same for all bikes with CAN bus.

A Power Vision can read and clear the codes through the diagnostic port even if it is "married" to another VIN number.
You would just need to have the correct cable for your model year, there are two, a 4 pin and a 6 pin.

How would you know if you had a trouble code set, if the controls and speedo are on the bench???

If the bike developes a problem, I want to have the ability to look the problem up and not just guess. I know it doesnt show everything, but it can help narrow a issue down.
