Will a bad voltage regulator make my sporty not start. When I try to turn it over it wont start checked the battery good as well as the stator (what i could check with the bike not running) anything else i could check or would it be the voltage regulator? Thanks 09 sporty 883
Ok does starter engage and turn it over? I am assuming it does because you did compression test. So forget starting and charging system. Battery, voltage regulator starter and stator. If you have compression one hurdle done. Now spark, does it have spark as it turns over? If it does done with that. If not time to look at ign module on right side of bike. Not sure if it can be tested , need factory manual. If spark then fuel system needs to be looked at, does fuel pump energize, hear it turn on when you turn the bike to run? If not relay or fuel pump. If it does you need ability to check fuel pressure see if in spec. If not in spec replace pump. Both injectors would have to be bad for bike not to start. It would fire on one and misfire one second. If this is beyond your scope or tools, best is to take to shop or invest in factory manual and tools to repair
I ended up taking the tops off and it turns out i have a broken rocker arm. Thats more than likely the cause going to tear it all apart to see if it damaged anything. My question now is what could of caused my rocker arm to break?
You need to take a hard look at the rest of the valve train like a bent jammed valve or such. Obviously, something was hung up to bend that pushrod and break off the rocker arm.

yeah i check everything. Checked the valves with break cleaner nothing when through. Turns out there was a 12 mm socket but inside reason for the trouble. But as of now it runs great
