I made a really bad mistake and am looking for ANY advice from other Harley owners. I was engaged and while engaged, I purchased a 2007 sportster XL1200R in my name. My fiance was making the payments. You can see this one coming. He turned out to be a monster. Long story short, he moved to Colorado (we lived in New Mexico) and he wanted to take the bike with him. I said over my dead body, but now I have the bike and I cannot afford to keep it. Plus, I haven't a clue how to ride it. So in my yard sits a beautiful, brand new, hardly ridden, 2007 sportster with a tarp over it. I repeat...I cannot afford to keep this bike...I'm a teacher! That says it all. So the advice I am looking for is how to move this bike. I've had it for sale on hdtrader for about 5 months. I have friends passing along the word. I've gone down in price from 9700 to 9300. I pay monthly on the bike...so technically I don't own it. How can I sell this bike? Any advice?

This may not make me a popular individual with you, but if he was making the payments on it before, have him pay you for the payments you've made and let him have the bike (transfer the title, of course).
Thanks for the tip. I don't know that I can though. That means I have to come up with a grand to cover the difference. I owe 9370 for the title. If I could learn to ride the flippin' bike, this story wouldn't be so horrible.
See if the MSF holds a basic riders course in your area. They will teach you everything you need to know to get started riding. Since you bought the bike and it is in your name, you should be a HOG member. HOG will reimburse you up to $50 to take the riding course. Depending on the cost in your area, you may learn to ride for free. As someone else said, get a second job to pay the bike off, learn to ride it, have more fun than you thought possible.

Find a new boyfriend that isn't a monster and has good credit and rides, perhaps he would be willing to help you out with the paymentsthen you could take the MSF course and learn the riding skills you needand the 2 of you could ride off into the sunset happily ever after.
Oh I just love a happy ending!

There is 3 choices.
1) lower the price and take a loss of a grand or 1500
2) turn in the bike back to the bank and still take a loss
3) pick up a second job and learn to ride the thing.
Take it as a life lesson do not finance a car or bike for some one unless your married.
