The hardware kit is just the bolts and nuts for attaching the cables to the battery.

I did a little research, and saved a little money by going with a Deltran Battery Tender LiPo. I love it. I've had it over a year now, and even on the cold morning starts, after sitting several weeks, it rolls right over and starts.

And after having had to repair some broken battery tray mounting tabs once on my oil tank, I'm happy that it weighs next to nothing.

One of the nice things with the Harley charger is that it has a switch for Lead acid/AGM and Lithium. The biggest difference I can see is the lead acid/AGM mode float charges at 12.7 or so and the Lithium floats charges at 13.7 volts or so.

Not sure about that particular charger but Lithium will take a larger and faster bulk charge than lead acid. You would boil a lead acid battery at rates a lithium will happily accept it. It will also go from low charge to peak quicker because of that.

Correct. The charger im running is basically a battery tender that will do lithium also.

But would the HD charger for its lead-acid battery work on the lithium battery?

He said no changes to the bike, so the controls must be built into the battery, which the often are. That, makes me wonder if a Lithium tender is needed, but I assume it does, since the HD one has a selector for lead or lithium.

The lithium battery holds a charge much better than conventional batteries. The problem is parasitic current draw from the ECU, alarm system, etc. If you store the bike you will still have current draw from the battery, unless you have a pre-1994 (?) model.

The lithium battery is fully charged at 13.4 volts, the AGM battery at 12.7 volts.

The float charge voltage will be lower for an AGM battery charger ~13.0-13.2 volts so it would not get the lithium battery to 100% charged.
A charger for a lithium would have a float charge voltage of ~ 13.8 volts.

The HD charger for the lithium battery is Dual Mode and works on both AGM and Lithium batteries.
