Default Lithium battery

Installed one of the Harley Lithium batteries last week. Didnt really need one, but I loved the idea of taking 8 lbs off the bike. It doesnt even feel like a real battery. Made a big difference in how the bike starts. It fires up so fast now. Only difference is after sitting overnight you may need to wake the battery up ( warm it up ) by turning on the key and let it sit for about 30 seconds with the lights on. At least thats what they say, but mine still fires right up without doing that so far.

Might find some good info on it online, but I believe the warm up period only applies when temps get below 40*, maybe lower.

Am curious about them as I think I have a new battery in my future as well. I assume the charge controls are built in to the battery, so no changes needed for the bike itself?

Is it in full size case, same as old battery?

Finally, cost?

No changes to the bike. The case is the same as oem. My local dealer wanted 199. But I found them online from Utah Harley for 169. So my dealer matched that. I also bought the special charger for 48. The lithiums charge to 13.7 volts or something like that.

Oh yea, forgot needs new charger too. How do the CCA compare to the lead acid?

Can you share a video of starts please? My 1200 custom always make the dead start and I'm very frustrated with this ****... I've clean a lubricated each one contacts, cables, ralays...also y put softail battery on it and this ***** happens every time

I believe its about the same for CCA. Not really sure.

DO NOT let the battery drop below ~11 volts or you've just created an expensive paperweight. Don't ask me how I know.

I've had my Shorai lithium for almost five years. Never bought a charger or a tender. Not needed in my experience, the bike fires up every single time, instantly.
My 1991 has zero parasitic drain, unlike newer bikes, so a tender may be a good idea for long term storage if you have a later model, especially EFI.

I don't believe HD lists a CCA for the new batteries.

My 2013 Service manual shows the stock AGM as:
